Welcome To Schultzs Journey :)

Steve just returned from a pre-trip to Kisumu, Kenya where God provided some clarity regarding where our family will serve and live.  Currently, we hope to serve at the R.O.C.K. Ministries and NEW LIFE Baby Home.

In June 2011, our Family of 5 is traveling to Kisumu, Kenya to serve at  ROCK Ministries International.  R.O.C.K. Ministries was established in 1996 as a non-profit organization to reach and rehabilitate street children and orphans in Kenya.  The R.O.C.K. MINISTRIES International opened  in 2002 in Kisumu, which currently provides care for 32 street children and orphans.  R.O.C.K. Ministries  is currently building a children's village in Malava which would house 210 children, plus house parents and staff.   Our Family hopes to assist with the care and education of the 32 children, run a soccer program and assist in the building of the Malava Village Multi-Purpose Building.  For more information about ROCK Ministries please visit R.O.C.K Ministries International.

During our free time, there is also opportunities for our family to serve at New Life Home and Village of Hope(VOH), both in Kisumu Kenya.  New Life Home was born through the founding of a baby rescue home in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1994. The founders, Clive and Mary Beckenham, had been involved in a number of humanitarian projects when they became aware of the plight of abandoned and orphaned babies, particularly those born HIV positive.  As the program progressed, a unique phenomenon was experienced as upwards of 90% of the HIV positive babies admitted became HIV negative after a few months of care.  Click on the highlighted name, for more information about New Life Home

VOHK opened in 2008 and the 25 staff members provide the children of Kisumu with food, shelter, health services, and education. Our family hopes to serve the staff at VOHK by providing some teacher inservices or running some sports programs. For more information about VOHK please visit Village of Hope in Kisumu, Kenya.
